1966 was a momentous year for Portugal. As the national squad embarked on an unprecedented football World Cup run, the capital Lisbon saw the opening of the first bridge spanning the River Tagus and the adoption of a newly enacted Civil Code. From their home in Amadora, just a few miles to the northwest of Lisbon, the Almeida family witnessed these watershed events with a steady eye on the future, but another landmark moment is chiefly remembered in their household - in May of that year, out of sheer passion for wine-making, MA&F (Sociedade Comercial Vinícola Manuel de Almeida e Filhos Lda) was born as a new, burgeoning entrant into the flourishing wine distribution market.

Four decades of hard work and commitment have shaped MA&F into an important nationwide supplier and wholesaler of wine and spirits, delivering an extensive range of European fine wines and sparkling products to large-scale retailers and local independent merchants alike.

But as wine-lovers we always crave for more. Besides supplying large retail chains, MA&F has developed its own trademarked wine labels and private collections, the latter exclusively and memorably designed by world-renowned artist Manuel Cargaleiro.

Firmly established in the Portuguese wine trade sector, we are now looking towards new national and international markets ripe for investment in our quest for providing each customer with the very best in wine and spirits.
